In addition to Berthold's standard stabilizing technology, the LB 480 SENSseries detectors with SIL ratings use the unique and unrivaled Berthold "cosmic radiation gain control" to increase measurement stability and monitor detector functionality. This control is a strong proponent of the stability required to achieve SIL2 certifications for all applications, including continuous level, density, and high and low level switches. SIL3 is possible when using a pair of redundant LB 480 on the same source. Berthold is the only radiometric device produce for process control with SIL2/3 certifications for all of these applications. Another proponent for the certification is the patented 4-20 mA monitoring, which identifies current signal deviations in the loop. Therefore, a possible fault in the current output circuit of the LB 480 or at the repeater can be identified without delay.
